Photographer friends, are you guilty of connection point trends?
Just ask yourself how many iced coffee Chick-Fil-A lovin’ photographers you see around every corner. You now what I’m talking about! Let’s talk some truth about connection point TRENDS!
Connection points are the things you share in your marketing about yourself, your values, and your personality to help you not only build connections and relationships with your audience, but to STAND OUT in your market! THAT IS, if you aren’t using the same ones everyone else is using too!
When using connection points in your marketing, ask yourself 2 questions:
1. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞?
2. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐈 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐬𝐨, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬?
Here’s some current connection point trends: ▪️Coffee/iced coffee
▪️Chick-Fil-A
▪️Tacos
▪️Margs ▪️Natural Light Lover/Chaser, etc. Right now, “tacos and margs” are super popular connection points. But maybe you’ve got a thing for cucumber jalapeño margaritas. You can bet most other photographers that are “into margs” aren’t talking about that, so YOU be the first! And about that light. All photographers are lovin’ that natural light, but most of your audience doesn’t know a think about it! You want to choose connection points your audience can identify with, but in a unique way!
Don’t fall into the trap of marketing trends that can cause you to blend in instead of stand out. It’s important to always put your spin on your own marketing strategies! If what you offer is the same as everyone else, you’re asking potential clients to choose based on price point. Remember that!
